Yesterday I got back from three days in Copenhagen and I fell in love there, with the food, with the art and with every beautiful Danish stranger that walked by. I couldn’t help but share some of my new favourite spots in this vibrant city for anyone else looking to get the most out of a short time there.
Cafe Norden – the ultimate brunch spot
I am a huge advocate for brunch, it’s at a time when I am fully awake and ready for good conversation and even better food. Cafe Norden was recommended to me by a friend on twitter, so we dropped by. Scandinavia is well renowned for being pricey and this place does fall into the higher bracket money wise, but trust me, with the amount of food you get per brunch plate, you will not be hungry for a while. I got the “healthier” option which came with a shot of ginger and lemon, some quinoa, edamame beans, blue cheese and some typical Danish rye bread I could not get enough of!
This place attracted all different kinds of people, tourists, business lunches, young people, we didn’t feel out of place as three giggling, androgynous people. I highly recommend this place for a casual, but kind of special, late morning adventure for you.

Glyptoteket – a sculpture paradise
We originally wanted to visit here because we saw some killer shots on Instagram of the centre atrium, but the rest of the museum is equally as paradisiacal with marble sculptures, copper relief works and early 20th century painting. I took a whole roll of 35mm film in this place. The collection is some of Carl Jacobsen’s, the son of the founder of Carlsberg- which we drank a lot of later at a small board game cafe called Bastard Cafe (4 beers for 100!).
You definitely need to give this place some time, we spent an afternoon here getting lost in all the different parts of the building. This is a lovely little piece of calm in a busy city.

Nyhavn – walking straight into a postcard
Colourful buildings, sailboats, people drinking on the canal, this is the kind of thing you see when you google Copenhagen. We didn’t spend too much time here, but we took a stroll through this scene as the sun was starting to set and it had such an atmosphere, even on a Sunday evening.
I love getting lost in a new city for a while, I always have a sketchbook and journal on me and try to find quieter moments to write or draw what I’ve seen. New places are such great spots for thoughts and ideas- my next stop is Amsterdam!
